Police steps up drive against robbery-holdups in Camarines Sur

NAGA CITY - - THE POLICE PROVINCIAL OFFICE (PPO) here has directed municipal police stations to activate an "operation plan" in towns were recent armed robberies have occurred and to step-up drive against organized criminal elements, responsible for the armed robberies in the last two months.

Cam. Sur Police community relations officer, Chief Insp. Eymard Gomez bared that police chiefs particularly in the Rinconada district (of the province should activate the "operation plan" after recent armed robberies were reported in the locality.

Gomez bared that the most recent incident was an armed robbery on a Shell Gas Station at Sto Domingo, Nabua Cam. Sur, in which four armed suspects all wearing crash-helmets and riding in tandem in two Honda motorcycles, carted with some P 4,000 in cash sales including a cellphone of the gas station cashier.

Gomez also said the armed-robbers were not just contented with taking the cash; one of the suspects also struck the cashier, Rowena Baldesco, 24, with his handgun, causing her a head injury.

In April, the PPO journal recorded a report of Libon, Albay businessman, Alden Serrano, 50, who was driving through Barangay San Vicente, Bato, Cam. Sur in an Isuza-Altera car, when three suspects riding in two motorcycles fired at his vehicle and attempted a robbery.

Reportedly, Serrano fired back with his 9MM pistol killing one of the suspects, Artem Baylon, 25, of Caloocan City; Serrano was also wounded during the shootout.

Meanwhile the Naga City Police District reported that investigators are still probing the identity of the suspects behind the armed-robbery at the DJV Hardware at Concepcion Pequeña here last April 27.

The owner of the hardware, Daisy Yao Uy, 48, reported having lost P67,000 in cash; checks worth P 400,000; several cellphones, a SPAN-landline, and mediaplayer to unidentified men armed with Cal. 45, Cal. 38 handguns, including a hand grenade. (SONNY SALES)
