TIGAON CAMARINES SUR (May 19) - The discovery of the lifeless and mutilated body of a girl on a corn field at Zone 5, Brgy. Talojongon, Tigaon has shocked the whole of Partido area in this province.

The child's body was recovered last Friday, May 15, 10:00 a.m. by a worker who was applying fertilizer on the plantation on the said day. Initial investigation states that the child was 1 year and 4 months young and was last seen by her relatives on the afternoon of May 12.

Medical findings also affirmed that the right arm of the victim was amputated by a bladed material while her left leg which was also missing was said to be bitten by an undetermined animal. However, the findings did not indicate abuse or any form of sexual harassment on the child's body.

To establish the identity of the suspect and its motive, Tigaon Police invited the child's mother for questioning. However, some statements of the mother were inconsistent and questionable. She admitted that she abandoned her child at the corn plantation on the day of May 12; she also confessed that after leaving her daughter, she remembered nothing of what happened. She barely remembers that her daughter was missing.

According to the police, the child had poor eyesight which disabled her from the possibility of surviving desertion.

In the meantime, two days after the recovery of the child's body, the police went back to the crime scene and recovered the torn part of the child's pajamas. Traces of her arm and leg were not found.

In the afternoon of Tuesday (May 19), the mother together with the child's father were once again called by the police regarding their other two children who were also said to be missing. The police continues to investigate the mysterious case behind the child's murder.
