Naga City – The local government of this city is set to file cases against Police Senior Superintendents Bal Tira, OIC PNP Regional Director for Bikol and Romeo Tambungui, Camarines Sur PNP Provincial Director.
This is in connection with the perceived unwarranted relieve of 14 organic member of Naga City Police Office.
In a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panglunsod of this city, the city government initiates the filing of administrative cases against Tira and Tambungui through City Legal Officer for not responding to their duty as PNP officials.
“It is incumbent to them to do action on the unwarranted relieve of 14 PNP men of this city. They must question the reassignments of these PNP officers as to why they were transferred despite of lack of PNP personnel here,” City Councilor John Bongat said.
The City Council blames the two PNP officials for the continuous demoralization of PNP personnel in this city which sees them as the main cause of low performance of its members.
Councilor Bongat said demoralization affects performance of PNP in solving crimes and this can be noticed how PNP Naga resolves the growing crime incidence in the city. “Our PNP men here can’t really concentrate on their duties because they are frightened that someday they will also be transferred like their colleagues,” Bongat added.
These 14 PNP personnel were transferred to Camp Crame in Quezon City without clear reason of relieve. Two of them were sent to study at Subic where those identified as TABA (fat or overweight) cops undergo retraining.
Bongat expects City Mayor Jesse Robredo’s approval in filing cases since he (Robredo) earlier manifested support of retention of the relieved PNP officers.
