Naga City - (March 29) A Bikolano made it to the top ten among the passers of the 2007 Bar Examination held last September at the De la Salle University in Manila. Atty. John Michael Galauran was ranked fifth in the recent Bar Examination given by the Supreme Court with an average grade of 81.09 percent.
Galauran, who received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC), said he did not expect to be at the top ten of the bar passers. He stated that he found the examination really difficult and was just hoping to pass the exams as an ordinary law student.
“Para sakuya okey lang na makapasar sana sa exam asin dae ko na pighagad na makabali pa sa top ten kaya ogma ako na maging number five sa bar,” Atty. Galauran revealed.
Other bar passers from UNC are Imee Estrada Abardo, Michael Abundabar, Ismael Albao, Francis Bitara, Jo Aileen Cabiles, Marwin Cortizano, Amando Cura, Emilio Esquita, Jocery Fabi, Armeen Alain Gomez, Mary Ann Legarto, Rene Cornello Morano, Paulino Moreno, Janice Orbita, Alex Alberto Popanes, Art Teoxon, Gerald Toriano and Carlo Villanueva Jr.
Atty. Galauran is already married and has two children. He is the second of the six children of Adelio and Paz Galauran who are presently residing in Las Piñas, Manila. Currently a professor at Colegio de Sta. Monica in Las Piñas, Galauran resided in Villa Sorabella here in Naga City before transferring to Las Piñas.
Retired Judge and Dean of the College of Law of UNC David Naval related to Vox Bikol that the fifth place position of Atty. Galauran is very significant because he was also the fifth placer in his bar examinations; moreover, presently this is the fifth year of his stint as the dean of the College of Law.
