DAET, Camarines Norte, Sept. 10 (PIA) – The Bicol Surf Jam, the first of its kind in the country, will start its first leg at Bagasbas Beach in Daet town, this province on September 19-21, 2015.
Daet Mayor Tito S. Sarion said that the surf jam has been designed to provide a venue for camaraderie, competition and excellence in the pursuit of creating a united community of Bicolano surfers and producing world-class talents.
This is also the first-ever Regional Surf Circuit Competition in the country and it specifically aims to step up the competitiveness of surfers; recognize and discover the region’s most talented athletes and promote Surf Tourism in the Bicol Region.
The second leg will be held on October 16-18 at Barangay Buenavista, Gubat, Sorsogon while the third leg will be on Oct. 20-24 at Puraran, Catanduanes.
He said that the jam is open to surfers from all provinces in the region. The surfer who earns the highest accumulated points from all three legs will be announced as champion.
In Daet town this is in partnership with the local government and Bicol Harvest Magazine. Also partnered in this event is the Tourism, Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
Invited to grace the event is Regional Director Maria Ravanilla of the Department of Tourism (DOT) at the opening program on September 19. (MAL/RBM-PIA5/Camarines Norte).
