DAET, Camarines Norte May 5 (PIA) – This year’s Daet International Aerosports Show leveled up with a new feature—skydiving which unfolded at the Bagasbas beach last April 24-26.

Mayor Tito S. Sarion said that with skydiving, Daet wouldl be known around the world.

Sarion said he wished to exhibit the good things that were interesting to local and foreign tourists in order to boost the town’s tourism industry and economy.

"We will be hosting the Gayon Bicol Festival of festivals showdown at the Pinyasan, along with the celebration of the 430th foundation anniversary and the observance of feast of Saint John the Baptist this coming month of June." he said.

He said that this is what local government units should do to promote their towns.

Sarion said he hoped to sustain these gains with the citation for Daet as the 2014's most competitive municipality in the Philippines.

On the other hand, Event Coordinator Buko Randell Raymundo said that compared to the aerosports in 2014 and 2013, this year is better due to more local pilots joined in paragliding, paramotoring and  skydiving.

"Daet is a very unique place because we can do this kind of sport here.” Raymundo said. “We have lots of feedback from international tourists through social media in which Daet was viewed as the apparent center of aerosports in the Philippines." he said.

Mike Gambrill who had introduced not only skydiving but also kite boarding, paragliding and paramotoring in Daet said he easily fell in love with the town because “the place is very dynamic.”

“All you want to do you can do it here,” Gambrill said,

"Every time I visit Daet there is always something new, the dynamism of the town is outstanding," lawyer Harvey Keh of Kaya Natin Movement said.

Aside from exhibition of paramotoring, paragliding and skydiving, there were also fellowship night, aerosports fun walk, zumba and launching of Operation "Listo" on disaster preparedness led by Provincial Director Renato Alaurin of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The event was supported by Department of Tourism and the Philippine League of Municipalities. (RBM/MAC/EAD PIA5/Camarines Norte)
