VIRAC, Catanduanes, April 20, (PIA)—In a bid to inspire more people to put up a business, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) plans to put up a “Negosyo Center” in this province

During a forum held in San Andres town last April 17, DTI Provincial Director Heginio A. Baldano detailed how Negosyo Center would promote “ease of doing business and facilitate access to services for micro, small and medium enterprises” (MSME) in Catanduanes.

Baldano said that the project will be piloted in Virac and San Andres as these towns are the top hubs of commerce and trade.

The Negosyo Center in Virac will be housed at the DTI office while that in San Andres will be located in downtown San Andres and operated by the local government unit, he said.

The center in Virac will be jointly managed by DTI and Provincial Micro-Small Medium Enterprise Development Council (PMSMEDC), he added.

Baldano stressed that the San Andres Negosyo Center, being a new facility, would need the collaboration of several stakeholders, including government agencies, academe, financing institutions, NGOs, business sector and media.

The Office of Senator Bam Aquino who authored Republic Act 10644, the law espousing the establishment of Negosyo Centers across the country, also sent Luke Buniel, his program officer, to the forum.

Buniel presided over a session on “Negosyo Learning Center,”

According to Buniel, the Go Negosyo Act seeks to promote “job generation and inclusive growth through the development of MSMEs” in the country and to promote “ease of doing business and facilitate access to services for MSMEs within its jurisdiction. (EAB/EAD/PIA5- Catanduanes)
