BUHI, Camarines Sur, Nov.20 (PIA) --- The organization of Rinconada Tourism Development Technical Working Group (RTD-TWG) will fast track the development of a comprehensive tourism package that will hype the great sceneries and tourism potentials that were once unnoticed along the Rinconada area.
This was one of the highlights of the discussions during the 1st Round Table Dialogue on Rinconada Tourism Development Plan conducted over the weekend at Balerite Resort, Barangay Igbac, Buhi, Camarines Sur. It was attended by Chief Executives and representatives coming from the municipalities of Baao, Bato, Balatan and Buhi, the host municipality.
It was Buhi Mayor Rey Lacoste who moved for the creation of the TWG which will be tasked to consolidate and formulate the Tourism Development Plan for the 5th District. As suggested, the group shall be composed of the Planning Officers and Tourism Officers.
Camarines Sur 5th District Congressman Salvio Fortuno also graced the said occasion with his presence and emphasized the need to develop a plan that is beneficial to all local government units, particularly concerning his area of jurisdiction. He aired his commitment to support all endeavors and programs that thwe group will be able to formulate.
The 5th Congressional District covers the municipalities of Baao, Balatan, Bato, Buhi, Bula, Nabua and the City of Iriga.
The discussion endeavors to crop up complementation measures amongst the aforementioned LGUs and set a policy direction in so far as tourism is concerned. The newly created RTD-TWG also aims to develop workable strategies in order to come up with a tour package involving all LGUs in the Rinconada area.
LGU Buhi Admin Officer and PIO Bitoy E. Nachor stated that in so far as Buhi is concerned, their main focus of their tourism plan right now is the Lake Buhi.
“Aside from promoting the existence of the world’s smallest fish in our locality which is the Sinarapan, we would like to also encourage and invite tourists to visit our tourism spots like the Itbog Twin Falls and experience flat water kayaking within the lake area and other tourist spots worth-seeing in Buhi,” Nachor added.
Nachor also said that the purpose of developing Buhi’s Tourism Plan is to ensure sustainable resource utilization and undertake tourism activities as poverty alleviation mechanism. This he said, is also one of the advocacies of Congressman Fortuno who is considering in sponsoring a Magna Carta for the poor.
Buhi will soon be launching the La Uyay Buhi Festival in May 2015.
The said 1st Round Table Dialogue is in line with the Triple C Tourism Development Plan.
Dubbed as “Gems of the Pacific”, Triple C refers to the Tourism Development Area (TDA) composed of the provinces of Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and Catanduanes. These areas were cited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) in their National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) pursuant to Republic Act 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009.
The realization of this project is in support of President Benigno Aquino’s mandate for the country to formulate an integrated and sustainable tourism management plan and incorporate these tourism developments in the countrysides. (LSMacatangay, PIAV/Camarines Sur)
