PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Pili, Camarines Sur (Aug 10, 2012) – The Provincial Government and Pili municipal government have strongly condemned the brutal killing of New San Roque barangay captain Gerald Patagoc Regullano in the hand of army soldier.
Camarines Sur Vice-Governor Fortunato Peña announced during the regular session of the Provincial Board this week that as they condemn the killing of Regullano, they "will support his family in seeking justice for his murder."
The prime suspect in the murder of Regullano, army Corporal Leonardo Capranca, was already charged with murder before the Provincial Prosecution Office.
Pili Mayor Tomas Bongalonta has ordered the closure of 11 videoke bars and night clubs, mostly located along the Maharlika Highway of this capital town.
Mayor Bongalonta said that in additon to closing the “night spots,” the municipal government shall also review the business licenses of said establishments, order the health examination of their women personnel and, most importantly, check the security measures being implemented in the local clubs.
Pili Vice-Mayor Ronald Boclot said there is no need for additional legislative measures to address the incident, more than strict implementation of security measures in local videoke clubs who are in the habit of allowing military personnel from the three Army camps in this town to enter the night spots with firearms.
Police sources here said that in the past several minor incidents in local clubs, like non-fatal brawls, involved army personnel. It is also reported that some barangay officials are part-owners of some clubs.
Mayor Bongalonta ordered to fly the Philippine flag half mast at the Municipal Hall to show that the capital town mourns the death Barangay Captain Regullano. (SONNY SALES)
