Corona convicted: Sen Bong Revilla casts the 16th vote for guilt

MANILA, Philippines (May 29 2012 4:45 PM) - Senator-Judge Bong Revilla has cast the 16th vote that assures the conviction of impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Other Senator-judges who previously voted for conviction were Edgardo J. Angara, Pia S. Cayetano, Allan Peter Cayetano, Franklin M. Drillon, Francis "Chiz" G. Escudero, Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, Teofisto "TG" Guingona III, Gregorio B. Honasan II, Panfilo M. Lacson, Manuel "Lito " M. Lapid, Loren B. Legarda, Sergio R. Osmena III, Kiko Pangilinan, Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel and Ralph G. Recto.

Sixteen votes are needed to assure Corona's conviction.

So far, three Senator-judges have voted for Corona's acquittal - Joker P. Arroyo,Mirriam Defensor Santiago and Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos - way off the needed eight votes to get the Chief Justice off the hook.

As of press time, four more Senators are yet to vote - Vicente C. Sotto III, Antonio Fuentes Trillanes IV, Manny Villar and presiding officer Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.
