Dequito on Thursday ( May 17).

Dequito said, “ the completion of the school edifices was a concerted effort of the district offices”, as he admitted to slight delay in the completion schedule because of weather condition that was adverse during most of the implementation period, improving only in the second quarter of this year.

Dequito also said they are rushing the completion of regular maintenance works in national roads near school sites taking into consideration the safety of motorists and pedestrians during the opening of classes this year.

Moreover, DPWH Sec, Rogelio L. Singson has issued Department Order no. 29 directing DPWH district and regional offices nationwide to strictly enforce the removal of obstructions that restrict the use of roads and highways in accordance with the government's “Road-right-of-way” (ROW) in national roads. The order requires an inventory of all illegal structures and obstructions along the national highways before June 15 this year and a deadline on the removal of the illegal structures is set July 3. An updated report of illegal structures removed shall be submitted to the national office every end of the succeeding months thereafter(SONNY SALES)
