GMA Network continues to extend brand loyalty from television households to the academe. Amid the growing base of its nationwide audience, the Network recently earned nods from two separate academe-based award-giving bodies.
GMA News and Public Affairs, the country’s most trusted and most awarded broadcast news organization, won four major citations in the recently concluded 10th Gawad Tanglaw Awards.
GMA Network’s flagship primetime newscast program 24 Oras, anchored by GMA News pillars Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez, was awarded as Best News Program.
Imbestigador, bannered by Mike Enriquez and is widely regarded as the country’s most credible investigative program, was named as the Best Investigative Program; while top-rating weekly magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho won as Best Magazine Show.
Multi-awarded GMA News personality Vicky Morales, in turn, was recognized as Best News Program Anchor for GMA’s late-night newscast, Saksi.
For its part, the Network’s flagship AM radio station, DZBB, was named as Radio Station of the Year; while local television’s longest running gag show Bubble Gang won the Best Gag Show Award.
Gawad Tanglaw, or Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw, is an academe-based award giving body aimed to honor the best in Philippine media—in movies, radio, and television.
Further, GMA News and Public Affairs was also recognized in the 6th Hildegarde Awards, which aims to honor women with fearless spirit and vision in media and communication, organized by the St. Scholastica’s College earlier this month.
GMA-7’s Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and GMA News TV’s The Good News with Vicky Morales were awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Broadcast Journalism. Meanwhile, GMA News and Public Affairs’ campaign on the responsible use of social media, “Think Before you Click,” was given the Outstanding Achievement on Development Communication Award.
