PILI, CAMARINES SUR -- THE VICE-MAYOR OF THIS CAPITAL TOWN has taken the oath of office to assume the post as Chief Executive of this town after incumbent Mayor Alexis San Luis died in a tragic vehicular accident last July 1 at Gumaca, Quezon province.
New Pili Mayor Romeo S. Salazar vowed to continue the progressive development projects started by late Mayor San Luis, noting that the Capital town is a beneficiary to some P 90-Million worth of infrastructure projects.
The said projects consist mostly of farm-to-market roads being constructed in five barangays of this town, with funds coming from the congressional priority projects of Cam. Sur Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte.
Salazar also said that he will continue San Luis' plans for the total rehabilitation of the public market, even as current opportunities has also made the town's commercial district an alternative site for other malls branching out of Naga City after their operations were affected by the new SM mall.
It was reported that Liberty Commercial Complex (LCC) will open in this town with over a hundred personnel needed by the said mall.
In the meantime, it was also reported here that top-notcher Councilor Rodel Divinagracia has also taken his oath to assume the post of the Vice-Mayor in this locality.
Salazar added that the untimely death of Mayor San Luis was a shock to Pili constituents; the late Mayor suffered fatal injuries while inside his Ford Everest vehicle which had a head-on collision with Cagsawa Tours Bus along the National Highway in barangay Sta Monica, Gumaca, Quezon.
Necrological services were held for Mayor San Luis last July 9 and 10 during his wake at the Pili's town hall, while interment of the late Mayor was scheduled on July 11.
