NAGA CITY (August 28, 2011) - The local chapters of the transport group, Condor-Piston, is set to support a looming nationwide protest that aims to show the displeasure of the transport sector over the Aquino administration's failure to influence oil companies to sell their products at fair prices.
Noli Tirado, local chapter head of Condor-Piston, said they are protesting the inaction of President Aquino on the opportunistic practices of the big oil companies in the country.
Tirado said their 24-hour transport strike and work stoppage shall start at midnight on Aug 31.
The group notes that since the start of the term of President Aquino, oil prices have increased 27 times and the administration simply stood by.
Tirado said oil prices should now decrease because of the low prices of oil in the international market, which he attributes to the economic crisis in the U.S. and the return of Libya to the oil market.
He calls on the public to join them in their show of displeasure to the Aquino administration.
