The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) conducted its 23rd R&D Project Review and Information Dissemination (RDPRID) on June 15-16, 2010 at the CN Divinagracia Hall, CBSUA, Pili, Camarines Sur. The 2-day activity was composed of a paper presentation with two categories: (1) natural sciences and biodiversity and (2) socio economics and education; and a poster competition.
For the Natural Sciences and Biodiversity Category, the paper on "Evaluation of IBA, Coconut Water and their Combinations in Grafting Pili" by Dr. Gilda S. de Asis won the first place. While "Promotion of the Nutrient Manager as a Decision Tool for Rice Sufficiency"by Dr. Fe B. Perlas bagged the second place; and "Comparative Performance of Biofertilizers under Aerobic and Anaerobic Conditions" by Dr. Fe B. Perlas, Prof. Jesus B. Osea, and Prof. Russell Rosalinda F. Rastrullo got the third place.
While for the Socio Economics and Education Category, the following were adjudged as winners: "Benefit Monitoring and Evaluation of ischools Project in the Bicol Region: Readiness and Acceptability of ICT Integration among ischools Project in Camarines Sur" by Mr. Vladimir R. Foronda, Dr. Gloria B. Osea, Mr. Charlie P. Nacario, and Ms. Ma. Teresa B. Lirag (1st place); "Teaching Practices in Math of Selected Elementary and Secondary Cooperating Schools in Camarines Sur" by Dr. Gloria B. Osea, Dr. Elizabeth L. Laynesa, Dr. Eden C. Paz, and Ms. Rowena M. Bayrante (2nd place); and "Good Practices in Climate Change Adaptation across Ecosystems" by Dr. Cely S. Binoya (3rd place).
Winning first place for the Poster Competition was Ms. Hanilyn A. Hidalgo for her research entitled, "AFNR Human Resource Inventory and Environmental Scanning in Camarines Provinces". On the other hand, Dr. Fe B. Perlas was awarded the second place for her poster on "Promotion of the Nutrient Manager as a Decision Tool for Rice Sufficiency." Also, Dr. Fe B. Perlas together with Prof. Jesus A. Osea and Prof. Russell Rosalinda F. Rastrullo garnered the third place for their poster on "Comparative Performance of Biofertilizers under Aerobic and Anaerobic Conditions."
Furthermore, the 3 winning papers during the International Conference on Higher Education Research: Utilization, Experience and Discovery held at the University of Northern Philippines, Vigan, Ilocos Sur on April 28 to May 1, 2010 were also presented as special reports during the in-house review.
The research division holds this yearly activity not only to monitor and evaluate the University's RD projects but also to promote R&D excellence. It also serves as a venue to disseminate new technologies and knowledge to stakeholders, partners and the scientific community.
Winners of the 23rd RDPRID received cash and plaques of recognition. The first placers for each category received Php10,000.00 while the second and third placers got Php7,000.00 and Php5,000.00 respectively. Meanwhile, the Best Poster first placer received Php5,000.00 while the second and third placers were given Php4,000.00 and Php2,000.00.
There were 20 completed and 20 on-going R&D papers presented. From among the completed researches, 7 papers were recommended for presentation for the BCARRD Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights (RSRDH). These were the 6 winners of the 2 categories and the paper of Dr. Dulce J. Mostoles and Prof. Lilia C. Pasiona entitled, "Adaptability of Stingless Bee to Different Hives."(pbp)
