As part of GMA’s commitment to deliver the most comprehensive and most credible coverage of the 2013 mid-term elections, GMA’s award-winning morning show Unang Hirit (UH) presents Hiritan 2013: Senatorial Candidates Edition.
Taking off from its successful run in 2010 wherein the voting public had the chance to get to know the candidates running for public office, Hiritan 2013 aims to be a vehicle for viewers to know the senatorial candidates’ background, track record, and stand on the nation’s most critical issues.
Starting this Monday, January 21, Hiritan 2013 will feature three to four senatorial candidates per episode, from both the administration coalition and the opposition joined by the independent candidates or those from other parties.
Hiritan 2013 will be divided into three rounds of intense questioning which will run for an hour. In Round 1, veteran broadcast journalist Arnold Clavio will ask each candidate the “Question of the Day” on a current divisive issue. In Round 2, Unang Hirit’s Resident Analyst Prof. Winnie Monsod and the Network’s election coverage partners from the industry and the academe will ask the questions. This round will also include questions from the live audience and viewers generated through text messaging and social media. And in Round 3, a candidate will get to ask a fellow candidate.
Hiritan 2013 promises to be a very informative and engaging discussion that can help the electorate decide in line with GMA News and Public Affairs’ DAPAT TAMA advocacy.
