Legazpi police alarmed over dumping of fetuses

LEGAZPI CITY – An officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Women and Children’s desk who requested anonymity expressed alarm over the growing frequency of dumping of fetuses in different parts of this city, as another fetus wrapped in a plastic bag found near the seawall in barangay Rawis last Wed. (May 16) was added to the growing list.

The policewoman said “there were four fetuses found dumped in various places in Legazpi City last year.”

She claimed that the recently found fetus was dumped by a young woman who is working as “guest relation girl” in beer houses in barangay Bugtong here.

The Woman and Children’s desk officer also said that “intentional abortion” is a bailable offense, but with the mounting cases of abortion and with practicing “abortionists” growing in number, penalty for the offense should be stiffer, the policewoman said. (SONNY SALES)
