NAGA CITY Philippines (July 30 2011) – The members of the Board of Directors of Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative (CASURECO II) are ready ot go to jail anytime if this is the price to pay for protecting the electric cooperative - but they have the right to be heard and will air their side.
This was the statement of CASURECO II Director Adan Botor after a trial court cited him and other colleagues for indirect contempt due to non-compliance of a court order to fix the power rate and stay power disconnections.
Last Friday, Judge Marvel Clavecilla of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Pili Camarines Sur cited 9 directors of Casureco II for indirect contempt after establishing that the board failed to comply with the said court order.
On August 2, the members of the board shall explain in a press conference why they didn’t obey the court order that impose a fixed P 4.80 per kilowatt-hour power rate and direct a halt to power disconnections of member-consumers in arrears.
We shall explain to member-consumers the real score and the repercussions had the board followed the order of the court, Botor said. (Noriel Oya)
