Alaska launched Jr. NBA Clinic on 2007 and it has has been conducted in more than 100 cities and municipalities in the Philippines. According to Mr. Cyrus James Santelices, overall coordinator of the program, the Jr. NBA’s holistic approach is intended to strengthen the culture of youth basketball, teach life lessons, and empower youth to live a full and healthy life. “Its philosophy is to share the game of basketball with youth across Bicol by teaching skills, values, and wellness in a positive and fun environment,” he added. The aim is to develop complete and well-rounded basketball players and individuals. The municipality of San Fernando, with Mayor Fermin M. Mabulo at the helm, has been host to region-wide sports events and is now making its mark towards becoming a center for regional sports championships, including chess and volleyball.
