CAMP GEN. SIMEON A. OLA, Legazpi City, Nov. 11 (PNA) -- Combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Tabaco City Police Station and 501st Philippine National Police Maritime Group confiscated at least Php5-million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday afternoon at the Tabaco Port, Barangay Cormidal, Tabaco City.
A PDEA report identified the suspect as Vergel D. Dionela, a resident of Project 8, Quezon City who is temporarily residing at the village where he was arrested.
Bryan Babang, PDEA-Bicol chief, said they conducted the operation at about 1:45 p.m. wherein a PDEA agent acted as a buyer of shabu using marked money.
The authorities seized four plastic bags containing shabu weighing about one kilo and with an estimated street value of Php5 million.
Babang said Dionela is a native of Surigao and is now living in Quezon city but also temporarily stays at Barangay Cormidal Tabaco City.
He believes Dionela is one of the big-time pushers in Tabaco City and nearby areas.
The PDEA official added that the suspect was already imprisoned in 2002 in Surigao for alleged involvement in illegal drug but his case was dismissed.
Dionela is now at the custody of the PDEA, which is now preparing a case against him for violation of RA 9165.(PNA) CTB/LOR/FGS/EMC/CBD
