LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 2 (PNA) -- The observance of All Saints' Day on Sunday was generally peaceful in the entire Bicol Region, the spokesperson of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) said Monday.
Police Senior Insp. Malu Calubaquib said although there were persons caught with banned items in the cemeteries like fork and garden tools, there was no serious violation of the law.
Calubaquib also noted that although it was raining on Sunday, still people flocked to the cemeteries to visit the graves of their loved ones to offer prayers and flowers and reminisce the past.
The PNP Bicol spokesperson said the office's security plan, particularly on Oplan Kaluluwa 2015, has been effective and successful due to thorough and comprehensive preparations that the office made.
She said the PRO5 personnel, and the entire PNP organization nationwide, had been preparing for one week prior to the special occasion, with the help of village force multipliers.
Calubaquib said that a week before the Undas, Chief Supt. Augusto Marquez Jr., PRO5 regional director, already deployed field personnel and intensified police police visibility all over the region.
The PNP-Bicol also established Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in more than 100 towns and cities in the six provinces of the region.
The office also put up PADs at the cemeteries, airports, piers, markets, churches, malls and other areas where people flock.
Senior police officers have been continuously monitoring their junior men assigned in the field.
Marquez thanked the cooperation of the public, in general, and his men, in particular, for generally peaceful and orderly observance of the All Saints' Day.
