TS Lando slightly weakens; continues to slowly move to Calayan, Babuyan group of Islands

QUEZON CITY, Oct. 20 —Tropical Storm Lando has slightly weakened as it continues its slow approach to Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands, according to PAGASA weather update today.

‘Lando’ was located at 90km West of Calayan, Cagayan, carrying maximum sustained winds of 75kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90kph. It was forecasted to move Northeast at 4kph. Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy, and at times intense within the 650km diameter of the tropical storm.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. (PSWS) 2 is raised in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Batanes and Northern Cagayan, including Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands.

Meanwhile, PSWS #1 is raised in La Union, Pangasinan, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and the rest of Cagayan.

Occasional rains and gusty winds will be experienced over provinces under PSWS #1 while those under PSWS #2 will have stormy weather. Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fisherfolk are still advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon. (PAGASA)
