VIRAC, Catanduanes, Aug. 11 (PIA) – Sec. Manuel Roxas III of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has cited the Provincial Government of Catanduanes and Governor Araceli B. Wong for notching the 2015 Seal of Good Local Governance.

In his letter to Wong, Roxas said with the conferment of the SGLG the province can access the performance challenge fund for this year and will be allowed to secure the GFH certification for loan purposes, and provides an opportunity to other national program windows like Bottom-Up Budgeting Program and the SALINTUBIG program, subject to specific program guidelines.

The Seal of Good Governance requires LGU’s to meet the standards of the three core components and at least one of the essential components of bringing the services of the government on its highest level.

Meanwhile, Wong expressed in return her gratitude to the DILG chief citing that Catanduanes was able to capped said achievement through the help of all her constituents.

The assessment was conducted in 2014 as basis for the conferment of the 2015 seal. Catanduanes has met all the criteria of the core components of the seal as follows: Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection and Disaster Preparedness.

The province has also met two of the three essential components of the seal, namely business-friendliness and competitiveness and peace and order. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
