NAGA CITY, May 5 (PIA) --- Free and accessible health services, provision of safe and potable water and the continuous upgrading of power supply--- these are few of the simple yet significant developments that are now being relished by the constituents of the 4th District of Camarines Sur.
In his report during the recent Partido Development Authority (PDA) Board meeting held here, Camarines Sur 4th District Representative Wimpy Fuentebella conveyed before the Chief Executives and heads of various of the ten municipalities of his district, students, PDA officers and the members of the local media, the various undertakings that his office has extended to ensure that services, particularly to the hinterlands are being timely and effectively delivered.
Studies have been made in the improvement of the state of Partido’s health due to the implementation of various health programs here. Indigent members of the community can avail of the funds for medical assistance made available through the Department of Health (DOH), government hospitals and health centers. Bicol Medical Center (BMC) although located in Naga City, also caters to the needs of the patients from the Partido district through the Social Welfare Desks.
Fuentebella also ordered the activation of a text-hotline to ensure that victims of dog bites will be immediately treated. Complementing this endeavor is an on-going campaign to fight rabies. The young solon announced that anti-rabies vaccines are available for free to dog-bite patients.
Last February, a team of volunteers composed of local and foreign doctors successfully concluded their medical and surgical mission dubbed Operation Reach-Out. More than 908 patients were served, including those suffering from eye problems; 294 patients underwent eye refraction, 141 availed of the free consultation while 11 were treated for cataract. Wheelchair and prosthesis were also given to selected patients.
To ensure that Partido folks can have a continuous access to potable water, pipe- laying activity continues in Barangays Mampirao, Calalahan and Pugay and is expected to be finished this week. Residents living in the far-flung areas, particularly those with nil access to safe drinking water are being encouraged to apply for connections. The newly constructed reservoir in Barangay Union has 60 cubic meters of clean water per hour ready for distribution in Barangay Cagliliog.
Under the electrification program, Fuentebella pushed for the construction of the 69 KV line from San Rafael Lagonoy going to Caramoan and Garchitorena to ensure a steady supply of power in the neighboring towns, particularly to the coastal town of Caramoan which is frequently visited by tourists during the summer season. Construction works of the said power lines has been extended until June 2015 due to the request of various barangays and other entities to put on hold the transfer of lines to the new steel posts during the graduation period last March 2015. Current project accomplishment is now pegged at 84.88%.
Construction of the 5MVA substation in Presentacion is currently being undertaken in Sta Maria, Presentacion.
Fuentebella believes that they are now slowly reaping the fruits of their sacrifices, with the realization of all the plans that they have envisioned. “These developments will rev up trade and investments, create job opportunities and set the field for sustainable economic growth for the 4th District.” (LSMacatangay, PIAV/Camarines Sur)
