In Friday’s episode of Biyahe ni Drew, viewers are in for a sweet treat care of Drew Arellano’s trip to the Sugar Bowl of the Philippines—Southern Negros!

Believed to yield half of the country’s sugar produce, 54% of land areas in Negros make up hectares of sugarcane farms.

Drew’s first destination is Kabankalan City, a two-hour van ride from Silay Airport. Before reaching the city, though, Drew makes sure not to miss out on the incredible pit stops on the way.

Stopover 1 is Aboy’s, a restaurant in Bacolod that prides itself with its signature dishes like inadobong taba ng pusit and its version of pinangat. From being a small karinderya, it now belongs to the list of Places to Visit in Bacolod.

Drew’s next stopover is at OISCA, a sericulture farm in Bago City. Here, he witnesses the intricacy of silk cloth making from cocoons of silkworm.

Arriving at Kabankalan, Drew pops in at Reegals, a restaurant widely known for its super moist caramel cake.

Drew also takes a bite of Bgry. Tapi’s Chicken Papisik, a dish that undergoes a rigorous cooking method. Of course, Chicken Ati-Atihan, or the Negrense version of chicken inasal, also proves itself a must-try.

Finally, after all the delectable goodies, Drew shakes it off in the Sinulog de Kabankalan, a celebration held in devotion to the Sto. Nino. Like Cebu’s Sinulog and Aklan’s Ati-Atihan, Sinulog de Kabankalan also boasts of a street dancing competition that now runs on its 39th year!

Give that sweet tooth a surprise and tune in to Biyahe ni Drew this Friday, February 6, 8PM on GMA News TV.
