NAGA CITY, Dec. 29 (PIA) --- Pursuant to Executive Order No. 2012-022 issued by Mayor John G. Bongat reconstituting the Task Force Paputok, its members are now up in their toes to ensure that the guidelines are implemented, especially concerning the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
Public Safety Office (PSO) Executive Director Lito Del Rosario on his guesting during the FORUM@PIA held before the Christmas break, reiterated the city government’s campaign against the prohibited firecrackers, particularly reminding the merry-makers to take heed of the prohibitions to avoid suffering the painful consequences of firecrackers blasts and burns.
Atomic big triangulo, Super lolo, Pla-pla and their equivalent such as Goodbye Philippines, Binladen, Super Yolanda and Napoles, Giant Kwitis, Pop pop, Giant Whistle Bomb, Crying Bading and super Whistle bomb are among the prohibited firecrackers.
Watusi, although small and doesn’t look dangerous, is also being prohibited as per the Department of Health’s (DOH) regulation. Piccolo is also listed as among the forbidden firecrackers.
On the other hand, firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices that may be sold, manufactured, sold, distributed and used with utmost care include: baby rocket, bawang, small “triangulo”, pulling of strings, paper caps, el diablo, Judah’s belt, sky rocket and other types equivalent to the foregoing in explosive content.
Among the pyrotechnic devices which fit the same category include sparklers, “luces”, fountain, Jumbo Regular and Special, Mabuhay, roman candle, “trompillo”, airwolf, whistle device, butterfly and other types equivalent to the foregoing devices.
“We are also strictly monitoring the dealer’s license and retailer’s permit. We would like to ensure that they are following the specified rules as per their proper location, proper signage, including the floor plans of their store and warehouse where the firecrackers and pyrotechnics will be stored,” Del Rosario added.
As per the retailers, the PSO, in close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) are stringently checking if they are indeed authorized by their dealers to sell the said products. They should also show a certification that they attended the Fireworks Safety Training Course conducted by the PNP Civil Security Group or its duly authorized institution.
The DOH, including all its attached agencies, are continuously campaigning to bring to nil firecracker accidents and casualties and to totally eliminate harsh picture of losing a limb or finger, or worst, death every time a new year wraps and a new one starts. (LSMacatangay, PIAV/Camarines Sur)
