CSCCI launches 2nd Renewable Energy Summit

NAGA CITY, August 3 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur thru the Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CSCCI)  held the 2nd CSCCI Renewable Energy Summit on Saturday, August 4 at the Villa del Rey Hotel, CamSur Watersports Complex, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Earlier during the press conference held on August 2 at Café Lourdes, Naga College Foundation (NCF) here, Engr. Mario C. Villanueva, NCF President and chair of the Renewable Energy Summit said that the summit aims to promote the expositions or exhibits and forums that is being promoted by CSCCI.

“I joined this group specifically because of the advocacy I got from them, to really promote the businesses in Camarines Sur in particular, and help the suppliers introduce new products,” Villanueva said.

The summit is envisioned as a platform to showcase the immense business and transformational opportunities in renewable energy across sectors. It aims to encourage more business and homeowners to use renewable energy, as using solar energy can lower cost of consumption of electricity and at the same time reduce carbon emission.

The 2nd Renewable Energy Summit brought together leading policy-makers, industry captains, investors, manufacturers, bankers, the academe, start-up and small, medium enterprises, and other stakeholders an opportunity to network, meet, learn, build business and show the renewable energy in Camarines Sur.

The event also gathered resource speakers both from the user and supplier sectors to enlighten visitors and participants that the negative concerns in using renewable energy have solutions and they can have it at affordable costs.

Speakers from the banking sector and other financial institutions assisted prospective buyers with regards to financial assistance in investing and installing renewable energy at home and at business establishments.

Distinguished resource speakers included the summit included; Peter Sablay, Senior Science Research Specialist of the Department of Energy (DOE) who will discuss Renewable Energy Law; Engr. Ernesto Silvano, Jr. of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) for the Net Metering Guidelines; Engr. Nelson Lalas, General Manager of the Camarines Sur Electric Cooperative II (CASURECO II) who will discuss on Implementing Net Metering.

 Engr. Mario Villanueva and Dr. Dulce Atian of the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) will talk on Solar Energy Users, Cost/Benefit Experience for both NCF and CSPC Models, respectively.

Simultaneous with the Renewable Energy Summit is the 1st CamSur Construct Summit held from August 3-5, also at the CamSur Capitol Convention Center.

According to Abegail Soriano, Project Chairman of the 1st CamSur Construct Summit, the event gathered several exhibitors, sponsors and providers of equipment, trucks, construction materials, and furnishings. The latest and modern environment-friendly housing designs were also featured during the event.
