Camarines Norte tree planting launched

Daet, Camarines Norte. The DENR – Camarines Norte launched the “20 Million Seedling Production Program- Tree for Life Project” Urban Parks/ Areas Mass Planting at Brgy. Bibirao, Daet last November 14. The DENR – Camarines Norte was the host province for the Regional Launching of the Urban Areas Mass Tree Planting. Participants from different NGOs, private and government agencies, academe and LGUs within the province composed of 1,257 planters simultaneously planted some 7,423 seedlings of Narra and caballero in their respective urban parks/ areas.

Robbery probe yields results

NAGA CITY (Nov. 16) – Police investigators here are nearing the completion of their investigation into the fatal Jollibee Panganiban robbery two weeks ago. Metrobank security guard Rowenel Gavarra died from multiple gunshot wounds after being shot by the armed suspects. The fast-food chain's security guard, Joey Robarios, was also shot but survived the incident. Gavarra was with an employee of Metrobank, picking up around Php 212,000 in cash from the said establishment. The eight robbers were able to escape with the money by motorcycle.

Erosion and landslides from Mt. Asog threaten Iriga City

Iriga City - Mt. Iriga, known to the Irigueños as Mt. Asog, a popular destination for mountain climbers, home to some 3,500 Aeta aborigines in the Rinconada district of Camarines Sur, now poses a threat to the lives and dwellings of some 80,000 local residents living in at least nine barangays of the 36 villages in this city.

House oversight committee to investigate "CARE" project

BULAN, SORSOGON – SOME governors and mayors in Bikol are now questioning how the P10-Billion “CARE” (Calamity Assistance Rehabilitation Effort) fund released by the national government early this year is ebing implemented by major government agencies to repair and revive Bikol provinces devastated by the 2006 typhoons.

Tira assailed during Senate hearing

NAGA CITY (Nov. 17) – In a joint public hearing of the Senate Committee on Local Government headed by Sen. Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III and the Senate Committee on Public Order headed by Sen. Gringo Honasan, Naga City Mayor Jesse M. Robredo as well as other local government officials from Bikol assailed OIC Regional Director Police Senior Superintendent Balluigi Agnanayon Tira's mishandling of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the region.

Creation of “Naga Police Force” urged

Naga City (November 14) - City officials here urged for the creation of a local police force under the supervision of the mayor to serve as augmentation force in maintaining peace and order in the locality. While attending the senate hearing on peace and order crisis involving the City, City Mayor Jesse Robredo said that this idea presented itself as an alternative solution to similar problems that any locality will confront.
