It has a centerwind of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness up to 250 kph. The 24-hour Rainfall Accumulation near the center is estimated at very high 400 mm.

    NAGA CITY (Oct 27, 2012) - Mayor Raul Matamorosa of Lupi, Camarines Sur is now fighting for his life at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Naga City after being shot in the head by still unidentified gunman.

    At past 3 PM today Mayor Matamorosa had his television set fixed at the Sony Service Center at diversion road, Naga City, and was already inside his car when approached by a male assailant who shot him at close range at the back of his head closer to the left parietal area.

  • Naga City (Aug 21, 2012) - Department of Communication and Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas confirms this morning that the lifeless body of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo was recovered at around 8:00 A.M. today from the wreckage of his plane that crashed off the shore of Masbate City last Thursday ( Aug 16, 2012).

    The wreckage of the ill-fated plane was positioned upside down when sighted by volunteer drivers 800 meters from the shore. The bodies of Sec. Robredo and the two pilots were seen trapped inside the plane.

    Sec. Robredo's body was the easiest to retrieve and was pulled up to the surface, placed in a body bag and loaded into a Coast Guard ship.

  • GIZO: 31 July 2012 -- Bishop Luciano Capelli SDB, Bishop of Gizo, Solomon Islands, had the sad task today of writing to family, authorities, and those who had been working closely with Ryan Turallo, Filipino volunteer missionary, to inform them that at 7.00 am this morning, Ryan's body was washed ashore at Aleang village in the Shortland group.

    Ryan, 30 years of age, a native of Iriga City, Philippines, was the Student Affairs Coordinator at St John Bosco Senior Technical School on Nila, in the Shortland Islands. The school, named for St John Bosco, also has a number of alumni from Don Bosco Henderson on staff.

  • IRIGA CITY (Feb 9, 2012) - President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared Saturday (Feb. 11) a special “non-working day” in this city as the Tinagba Festival, a harvest offering feast of pre-Hispanic origin, is celebrated.

    Proclamation no. 319, signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr., by authority of the president, aims to enable the locals to fully celebrate this tradition of thanksgiving, which also coincides with the Catholic Church's Feast of the Lady of Lourdes.

    The Department of Tourism (DOT) also declared Tinagba Festival 2012 a regional tourism event that shall feature the colorful “10th Gayon Bicol,” a showdown of the 11 best festivals that are celebrated in the six provinces of Bicol.

  • MANILA, Philippines (Jan 26, 2012) – Despite persistent opposition of the defense on technicalities, Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares was able to present the tax records of Chief Justice Renato Corona and his wife, Cristina, at the resumption of the Corona impeachment trial yesterday.

    The decision to allow Henares' testimony was arrived at yesterday morning in a closed door caucus of senators, acting as impeachment court judges, who allowed the prosecution to present and mark the evidence on properties Corona acquired while in government service. The senators, however, did not allow the presentation of evidence on Corona's alleged ill-gotten wealth mentioned in paragraph 2.4 of the Article 2 of the 8 Articles of Impeachment. The presentation of the tax records of the Corona children and in laws was also disallowed.
