Bishop Baylon Urges Taize Pilgrims to Keep Flame Burning

MANILA, Feb. 21, 2010─Chairman of Episcopal Commission on Youth and Legazpi Bishop Joel Baylon has urged the Taize youth pilgrims to carry on the spirit of the pilgrimage of trust in their lives.

In a letter he wrote to group contact persons of the Philippines, the bishop encouraged the co-pilgrims to keep the flame of love burning in their hearts as they continue "to search for life in fullness" and seek "to transform the world" amid challenges.

Focolare Head to Speak at Clergy Congress

MANILA, Jan 21, 2010─The head of the worldwide Focolare Movement will be one of the lay sharers in the forthcoming National Congress of the Clergy on January 28.

Maria "Emmaus" Voce, president of Focolare is one of the five lay persons who will share with the clergy their experiences on the struggle to live a life of holiness in a secular world.

Other sharers include retired Chief Justice Art Panganiban, youth Darren Bancod and couple Leopoldo and Nena Repotente.

Priests' Congress Seeks Spiritual Renewal of Clergy

, Jan. 6, 2010─Focusing on the interior renewal of the clergy in this year dedicated for priests, an intense five-day national priests' congress will be held this month that will gather diocesan and religious clergy around the country.

The second National Congress of the Clergy set on January 25-29 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City will be days of spiritual reflection and profound prayer for priests aimed at providing them a deep religious experience "that will hopefully lead to spiritual conversion and greater commitment."

Groundwork for Taize International Meeting for Youth Opens

MANILA, June 5, 2009-Spiritual preparations have started for the upcoming Taize "Pilgrimage of Trust", an international meeting for the youth organized by the Taize Brothers set to happen early next year in Manila

Brothers from Taize are organizing prayers and meetings in various dioceses to prepare young people for the upcoming religious event from February 3-7, 2010.

The spiritual preparation aims to bring the youth to greater awareness of the importance of the upcoming event.

CBCP Rejects Revival of Nuke Plant

MANILA--The influential Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines has added its voice in opposition to the revival of the mothballed nuclear power plant in Bataan.

In a pastoral statement released yesterday, CBCP president and Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo appealed to lawmakers to reject the opening of the plant.

“We earnestly appealed to our Congressmen, with fervent hope and prayer that Congress will completely and irrevocably reject the opening of the nuclear plant as the most dangerous and expensive way to generate electricity,” the statement read.
