NAGA CITY (Feb 16, 2012) - Heavy rains that started Sunday has already caused 2 deaths and significant damages to properties and infrastructure.
The Environment Disaster Management and Emergency Response Office (EDMERO) of the provincial government reported that heavy rains triggered flash floods in the upper barangay of Monte Calvario in Buhi, Camarines Sur causing the death of one person.
Waters from Lake Buhi were also reported to have innundated lake bank villages on Monday,
Landslides were reported along the Sangay-Tiwi Road, a secondary national road connecting Partido district of Camarines Sur to Tiwi, Albay. A group of pilgrims that attended a local religious festival in Tiwi, Albay were unable to travel back to Camarines Sur.
The second flood-related death was that of an old woman in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur who drowned while trying to cross a swollen river.
Landslide were also reported in barangay Borabod in the coastal town of Garchitorena and flash floods swept low-lying segments of the Andaya highway in Ragay, Camarines Sur.
